FOOTBALL: Chelsea boss André Villas-Boas says he doesn't agree with decision to strip John Terry of England captaincy

Is Cristiano Ronaldo really worth £80 million?

[poll id="13"]

After Manchester United accepted a £80 million bid for Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, doubts have been raised as to whether a football player can really be valued at such an astronomical price.

As Mike Ashely tries to sell Newcastle United on to new owners, the club is on the market for around £100 million, only £20 million more than Ronaldo.

We want to know what you think. Has the footballing world gone mad? Is £80 million a ludicrous price for a football player, or is it a fair valuation of world-class talent?

I think he is…a dazzling and frighteningly complete player,if properly used he could transform RM and with kaka already there plus the current squad and some new defenders, expect a vastly superior and determined RM to enter 09-10 season…….

One must remember his marketing value. It has been said many times that RM will be able to return CR’s price in one season. As far as money is concerned, I do think he is worth spending 80 mil on.
