Danny Welbeck: Giggs is my idol

Young Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck says Old Trafford legends such as Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes have had a big influence on his development as a player.
The striker told Inside United magazine that last season’s PFA Player of the Year, Ryan Giggs has been his idol since he was a young child.
“I’ve always looked up to Ryan Giggs because he’s always been my favourite player since I was growing up as a kid,” he told Inside United .
“There’s Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, who have been here all their careers and know exactly what to say and when to say it.”
“Darren Fletcher has been a great influence on me, and Wes Brown has really helped me out, I think because we’re from the same part of Manchester.”
“I have a lot to thank those players for and I’m always looking to learn more from them.”
The 18-year-old made three appearances in a United shirt last season, and scored his first goal for the club in the 5-0 thrashing of Stoke City in the Premier League.
This season, Welbeck is keen to get more matches under his belt.
“I just want to play more games, notch up a few more performances in a United shirt and just show everyone what I can do, what I know I can do.”
