Not happy: Henry says France squad is 'bored and confused'

Thierry Henry has launched an astonishing attack on France manager Raymond Domenech after Les Bleus were held to a 1-1 draw against Romania on Saturday.

The former Arsenal captain is quoted in the French press as saying that the squad is ‘bored and confused’ with Domenech’s coaching style after the result at Stade de France at the weekend.

France are currently sitting in second place in group seven, four points behind leaders Serbia, who are Domenech’s team’s next opponents on Wednesday night.

According to Le Parisien, Henry confronted Domenech, saying: “Coach, we have something to tell you. I am speaking in the name of the squad. We are getting bored during your training sessions.”

“In 12 years with the French team, I have never been in such a situation.

“We do not know how to play, where to be on the pitch, how to organise. We do not know what to do. We have no style, no guidelines. It is not working.”

Domenech, who has been the manager of the French national side since 2004, faced huge levels of criticism from the French media after his side were dumped out at the group stages of Euro 2008.

However, shortly after the conclusion of the 2008 tournament it was announced that he will continue in his job, but is still under immense pressure from both the media and fans.

But despite the widespread reports of Henry’s comments, Domenech has insisted that the atmosphere in the French camp is ‘great’.

He told the French football federation website that “The atmosphere is great,” and “with all the discussions and the debates we have, we manage to create an exceptional atmosphere.”
