You seem to overrate him somewhat. He left Southampton at the lower end of the Championship and his transfer policies left Portsmouth virtually bankrupt. He's also spent a fortune at Spurs so he has no excuse if he fails to win major trophies there or at least get them into the CL. Good summary of his career so far.
