Nicolas Anelka says winning the Premier League with Chelsea this season would eclipse the title he won with Arsenal in 1998.

The Gunners host Chelsea on Sunday looking for a win to keep up the pace with the leaders, who currently hold a five-point lead over Manchester United.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 1-0 triumph over Porto on Wednesday, Anelka said: “Winning it with Chelsea will be even than when I did it with Arsenal.”

“That will mean I’m in one of the biggest teams in the world.”

“When I won it with Arsenal I did appreciate it at the time. Sometimes you only have one chance in your life. I had this chance before and now I have a second chance to win it again.”

Arsenal are currently eight points behind Chelsea with a game in hand and Arsene Wenger will be keen for his side to get back to winning ways in the league following the 1-0 disappointment at the Stadium of Light last Saturday.

A win on Sunday would see Chelsea open up an 11-point lead over Arsenal, but Anelka remains cautious despite being top of the league.

“Anything is possible in football. Even if we’re on top and a lot of points in front of everybody, it’s possible we could make a mistake after that.”
