Manny Pacquiao has played his part in setting up a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. later this year after defeating Joshua Clottey in front of a 50,000 strong crowd at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Clottey was able to last the distance mainly due to his defence but did not really threaten the Philippine boxer.

On the night that the ‘Pac-Man’ was supposed to be fighting Mayweather, he dominated the fight from the opening bell, relentlessly throwing punches throughout the 12 rounds, with most of his success coming from landing body shots.

Pacquiao defended his WBO World welterweight title with a unanimous points decision, the three ringside judges scoring the bout 120-108, 119-109, 119-109.

Speaking after the fight Pacquiao said: “He’s a very tough opponent, he was looking for a big shot.”

Attentions will now turn to Mayweather who takes on Shane Mosley on May 1 in Las Vegas, with the winner expected to fight reigning pound for pound king Pacquiao later on in the year.

The fight that had previously been agreed between Mayweather and Pacquiao fell apart when the camps of both men couldn’t agree on the drug testing procedure ahead of the bout.

Floyd Mayweather’s camp wanted blood tests to be carried out by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, which conduct tests anytime from when the fight is signed to the day of the clash. But the Pacquiao camp refused to provide these samples, only willing to allow blood to be taken from Pacquiao at least 30 days before the fight date as well as immediately after the conclusion of the bout.

On a potential showdown with Mayweather, Pacquiao said: “I want that fight, the world wants that fight, but it’s up to him.”

It is clear that the reason Mayweather requires the testing on his terms (olympic style) is he is afraid of Pacquiao capability and he will do everything to his advantage OR just trying ways to duck from seemingly unbeatable contender. His team knows that blood sample (invasive testing) will or may affect Pacquiao both physically and psychologicaly and this will give him advantage during the fight OR Pacquiao will simply refuse to accept (and sure, Mayweather then has evaded the risk of defeat)
Analyze these: 1. Pacquiao agreed to blood testing 24 days before the fight and right after the fight. 2. Will submit to unlimited uninvasive testing which are now as good as blood testing (urine, saliva & hair). 3. Pacquiao has been tested throughout his career and never failed. 4. He is a superstar with much eyes on him and that would not risk his stardom. These just show that Pacquiao is not hiding anything. His team is just making every precaution that may affect his performance. 5. Mayweather has ducked to several opponents while Pacquiao never select his contenders and fights everyone in the line. 6. Who has the clean record on and off the ring? (Though many says that Pacquiao rise to fame is like Fairy Tale (rug to riches) and many are suspicious BUT that is not the point. It is his pure capability/talent as a fighter from the very start of his career that put him to fame and that’s not fairy tale nor PED necessary/involved.
SO, WHO IS COWARD AND MAKING EXCUSES???

I only have one thing to say in response to the basis of your argument “Will submit to unlimited uninvasive testing which are now as good as blood testing (urine, saliva & hair).”

This is the same logic that has ruined baseball, and created Barry Bonds, Mark Magwire, and this list goes on unpublished.
If your statement were true, there would be not argument. The excuse about “invasive” drug testing is rediculous. The finest athletes in the world have to submit to Olympic style drug testing, (e.g. Michael Phelps, Labron James, Kobe Bryant, Apollo, Misty May, etc…).
That is all Mayweather is requesting. Olympic style testing. If Paquiao is truly the Best in the World as you and other pundits say, what makes him so afraid of being tested like the Best in the World?
I wonder how all of the Olympians feel about his reasoning…..
Did I hear something about excuses?
