You are so anti-Scotland its not even funny.

this article is about the team of the tournament ie the best INDIVIDUAL players from each team.

so what if England came third? they don't have any players who deserve to be in there (and i'm English). as for the irish players you mention- i agree with Paul.

didn't think it was the best 6 nations.

You are all so anti Irish its not even funny.

I helped to establish the Good Friday agreement and this is how the Irish are treated ;)

Scotland soming 'close' means darn all, the team you're building up Scotland to be is as if they nearly one the thing.

A good team wins matches not 'nearly' wins them.

I support a team in another sport where this is always the case, and it never comforts me.

All must agree though that it has been one of the poorest tournaments in years in terms of quality?

Also, besides my above joke, I think Ireland have peaked at the wrong time in terms of the RWC 2011.

Cheers for the comments.

Tony, I don't agree that Scotland were shockingly poor. They could have beaten Wales and England and it was tight against Italy as well. But regardless of that, I'm just looking at the players rather than the teams, and felt that the three selected (along with Ford and Beattie) were very impressive.
With regards to the Irish players you mentioned, Ferris is a very talented player, but was disappointing against France and poor against the Scots. He did play very well against England though. I just felt that Dusautoir was better during the tournament.
Heaslip plays in a position where there was a lot of competition, and frankly was a long way off Harinordoquy and Beattie. And WallaceDA, as good as Beattie was, I wouldn't say he was a much more powerful runner. Hari made a lot of ground with ball in hand as well.
Finally on BOD, he's still the best centre in the NH, but I felt that he had a fairly quiet tournament. He was disappointing against France, very quiet against Wales and not outstanding in any game imo. Bastareaud was up and down, and I agree he is overhyped at times, but for his performances against Scotland and Ireland I put him in. The best of a disappointing selection at outside centre this year.

Tony Blair what have you been watching. On stats Barclay was the best player/forward in the tournament. Dan Parks 3 man of the match speaks for itself, Scotland had by far the best lineout thus Al Kellock also Ross Ford just as good as Servat. Johnnie Beattie was also just as good a harinordoquy- much more powerful runner. Its about individual performance not about where the team stands in the table, and no englishmen because each one of them were shockin! Name one? Ferris not better than Dusautior. BOD yes Basteraud aint that good i dnt see the hype their, Heaslip?didnt show up this tournament. Bt great team overall

Tony,

You suggest 3 Irish candidates, who all lost to Scotland? Your argument is flawed.

As for Lamont - Scotland weren't far off the triple crown, comfortably beaten by the french and lets not talk about Italy! Grand slam next year ;-)

They came second from bottom HeComes FromSerbia.

Lamont came out saying they had a great chance of winning the grand slam, so much for that!

That's what I mean.

Scotland shockingly poor? mate you've been watching the wrong tournament. they were unlucky to lose to Wales, drew with England and beat Ireland! definitely have the best back row of 6 Nations.

Who in the England team deserves to be in there?

Scotland have three representatives and were shockingly poor this year.

Ireland were definately the second best side although a long way behind France, yet only have one representative.

Would you not consider Stephen Ferris, Brian O'Driscoll or Jamie Heaslip?

England came third yet have NO one.

I agree with most of the French ones I have to say but I disagree with some of the rest :(
