Tweets of the week

The Sport Review’s weekly pick of ten of the best ‘tweets’ from some of the sporting world’s biggest stars.

1. “The doctor of my team got fired today…poor dude worked here for 8 years and without notice, they fired him…thats messed up.”
Villarreal’s Giuseppe Rossi is left unimpressed by the powers that be at the El Madrigal.

2. “I’m so tired that I am considering going to bed. I must be getting old. Especially when it’s actually only 6.15pm!”
27-year-old Jimmy Anderson’s final tweet of the evening before putting his feet up by the fire with a pack of Werther’s Originals.

3. “Guys a good match today again. But now I want a steak.”
Venus Williams gives her Twitter fans an insight into the strict nutritional regime of a tennis star.

4. “I’m spoiling you all with tweets today but think you should all know that I can fit into my suitcase, it’s that big.”
Laura Robson is inexplicably keen to prove she can fit into her suitcase. Well done, Laura.

5. “Just an hour before I leave my hotel room to go to WAR!! I’m feeling cool, calm and fully ready to destroy”
David Haye not exactly lacking in confidence ahead of his bout at the MEN Arena.

6. “Sorry guys for yesterday.. I let the team down.. But I’m confident we pull it straight second game ..”
Ryan Babel offers his followers, presumably mainly Liverpool fans, an apology following his sending off against Benfica on Thursday.

7. “I play tennis.”
Technically not a ‘tweet’ but instead Andy Murray’s astonishingly descriptive Twitter page ‘Biography’.

8. “At the coldest airport in europe! Possibly the smallest too! Total of 6 people on my flight!”
Meanwhile Andy’s brother Jamie Murray is feeling secluded at Dinard airport, France.

9. “Never been to Corsica? Imagine France, Ireland, Texas, and the Carribean all colliding in the Mediterranean. What a badass place.”
Has Lance Armstrong just signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with the Corsica Tourism Board?

10. “I don’t think @SteveHarmison10 is real. As bad as he is at spelling, I don’t think the real Stephen would get his name wrong.”
You’re probably right, Jimmy Anderson, but you never know.
