Celtic confirm Neil Lennon as Tony Mowbray’s replacement

Mowbray’s rein at Parkhead was marred by disappointing performances

Celtic have confirmed former player Neil Lennon as their new first team manager.

The 38-year-old Northern Irishman has taken the manager’s job permanently after impressing during his interim spell, including an eight-game winning streak.

There had been speculation that the Celtic board would opt for someone with more experience to succeed Tony Mowbray, but it seems pure ambition and passion have come out on top with Lennon’s appointment.

The news will come as music to the ears of Celtic fans who expressed their desire to see Lennon permanently appointed at the helm throughout his interim spell. A fan’s favourite whilst on the pitch he will have everybody involved with Celtic firmly behind him.

As well as his time playing for Celtic, he was also part of Gordon Strachan’s coaching staff which might well have swayed the decision to instate Lennon permanently.

After seeing Rangers run away with the SPL title, sights ahead for Lennon must be to regain the title and avoid disappointing performances which marred Mowbray’s rein at Parkhead.
