Manchester City have agreed a deal with Valencia to sign highly-rated midfielder David Silva on a four-year deal.
According to the club’s official website, the 24-year-old will complete a medical once his participation at the World Cup comes to an end.
The transfer fee is reported to be in the region of £25 million.
“The time is right for me to seek a new challenge, and I am thrilled about playing in England with Manchester City,” Silva said in a statement on the Manchester City website.
“I believe the Premier League is one of the best competitions in the world and I want to bring success to City and win trophies for them.”
The Spanish forward made 155 appearances for Valencia, scoring 29 goals and creating countless opportunities for fellow teammates.
“I would like to thank Valencia as a club and all of their loyal fans, and my team mates there and staff. I have enjoyed six years at Valencia, they discovered me as a footballer and they will always be a special club for me”, he added.
Manchester City have also been heavily linked with Barcelona’s defensive midfielder Yaya Toure and SkySports are currently reporting that Toure is ‘poised’ to sign for the Eastlands club.
