Cristiano Ronaldo has been left with a positive first impression of new Real Madrid coach José Mourinho as the Spanish side’s pre-season regime gets underway.

The La Liga outfit are currently on their pre-season tour of North America and Ronaldo is excited over the prospect of playing under the Portuguese coach.

“Mourinho is a winner,” said Ronaldo. “His training sessions are spectacular. They have great intensity. We are all very happy to have him.”

“We are very excited and working very hard. We have to keep this level of excitement up in order to win titles.”

Ronaldo, 25, went on to insist that Los Blancos will continue with their attacking style of play despite Mourinho’s having a reputation for being notoriously defensive-minded.

“Real Madrid has attacking players, so we will be an offensive team,” he added. “The priority right now is to get back in shape as soon as possible.

“We are very excited and working very hard. We have to keep this level of excitement up in order to win titles.”

Ronaldo also expressed his desire to snap up the number 7 shirt after Real legend Raúl left the club following 18 years in Madrid.

“I would like to have the number 7 shirt and I’m sure Raul would be happy if I had it because he knows how I am and how I think”
