Dan Gosling has revealed his delight at finally completing his switch from Everton to Newcastle after signing a four-year deal with the St James’ Park club.

“It’s a brilliant move for me, I can’t wait to get started,” Gosling told the club’s official website.

“I’ve played at St James’ Park and know about the great atmosphere.”

He added: “Playing there in a black and white shirt is something I’ve thought about already and it will be a great day when I finally get to walk out in front of 50,000 fans.”

Everton’s reluctance to turn a verbal contract offer into a written agreement has been to Newcastle’s gain, with the highly-rated 20-year old very much fitting the bill for manager Chris Hughton.

“We are delighted to have signed Dan,” said Hughton. “He’s the right age and the profile that he has is what makes it such an appealing capture for us.

“He’s young, but has Premier League experience and he’s someone who can continue to develop his game.

“We see him as a high-energy player and a player that can play from box to box, but he’s also a young player with experience, so he won’t be phased by what is ahead of him.”

A Premier League tribunal concluded that Gosling could leave Everton under the Bosman ruling and it is understood Newcastle will not have to pay any compensation as a result.

Gosling is however unlikely to be available for the start of the new season due to the injury serious knee injury he suffered in March.

newcatles manager hughton is thrilled with the signing of gosling and announced that dan can play right back, does he not realise the reason he left everton was that he wanted to play every game in midfield and NOT right back, looks like there could be trouble before a ball is kicked, i’m still wondering who he wanted to replace at everton was it arteta, pienaar, fellaini, cahill, osman, bilyaletdinov, neville, wallace or the brilliant and talented jack rodwell, maybe dan can tell us just who he thought he was better than, at newcastle he should not have a problem playing every game with the tossers they have in midfifield

Sounds like someone is jealous? Acting like you don’t care when really, deep down inside you know you lost one hell of a young player… Good luck staying top half..

Geordiepride,How do you know he is a “hell of a young player”?How much have you seen of him?
In fact he’s pretty average, easily brushed off the ball for a biggish lad and without any pace.
Evertonians are far from jealous of you having him.Not only have we a host of far better established players including youngsters Rodwell,Anichebe and Vaughan we also have a crop of better prospects coming through ie Coleman,Baxter,Duffy,Wallace, Barkley,Bidwell & Garbutt (the last three all being part of the England squad that won the 2010 European under 17′s championship in May) the.Add to that newcomers 20 year old Frenchman Magaye Gueye and 19 year old Portugese lad Jao Da Silva why should we be jealous.

I agree with El Tel. We don’t need an average player to hold us back. Enjoy your season in the premiership Geordiepride.

Fair play to Newcastle, but he’s shown his true colours now and won’t be terribly missed – If 15k a week wasn’t enough for a player that only made 3 league starts last season then so be it.

Honestly don’t believe he’s better than Nolan, Gutierrez, Guthrie or Barton (Routledge & Smith probably edge him as well) – So can’t see him getting too many more starts for you guys.

Has definate potential, but he’s not as good as he would like to think – or Hughton would have your fans believe, I hope for your sake he’s not the player he’s pinning your survival on…

Bear in mind he ruptured his cruciate as well – don’t expect him to play before October.

Geordiepride…I don’t know where you get ‘one he’ll of a player’ from. He’s average and was an ok squad player at best. Dan was never ever going to be a first 11 player and I bet there isn’t a single evertonian sorry to see him leave. The only thing we didn’t like was the principal of the move.

Seriously my Geordie friends, he has p****d us off by the nature of the move, but honestly – he’s not that good. He’s on the slow side and not especially good on the ball. When he’d come on as a sub there was always a feeling around the ground of ‘oh c**p, is that all we’ve got’. Apart from the goal he scored against Liverpool he’s very average.

Gosling has potential. Any player that is only 20 and has broken into any Premier League side even for one game has potential. As a Newcastle fan I think he will be a vast improvement on what we have got and that is all you can ask for as a fan. Fans including ours are fickle at times. I bet when Gosling scored against Liverpool everyone on the Everton forums were probably saying that he was a great player or at worst a great prospect, now he is not. That is the football fan for you.

Good luck staying in the top half… hahahahaha! Believe me, Gosling leaving really wont have an effect on our league position whatsoever.

Geordies…completely deluded!

Staying in the top half who said anything about that. The normal fan only expects Newcastle to survive this season nothing more. This deluded Geordie line is outdated utter tosh. Yes Gosling wont effect your league position as he has not really ‘broken’ into your first team so how can he. However our midfield is not as good and he will make a difference.
