Urugyay striker Diego Forlán says his team are ready to face the Netherlands in the first of the World Cup semi-finals tonight.

When asked what he believed to be the key reaching a first World Cup final since 1950, Forlán said the team need to reproduce the performances which have helped them reach the last four.

“To keep on doing the things that have got us this far,” said Forlán.

“We’ve had respect for all our opponents and we won’t be making an exception now.

“We know how to play teams like the Netherlands too, and you have to be ready to face the challenge, whether it’s 90 or 120 minutes.”

However Forlán is wary of the threat posed by tonight’s opponents.

“Everyone knows they are a great side with some world-class players, especially up front. They are solid at the back too and they are all comfortable on the ball,” admitted Forlan.

“That makes it an even more difficult game for us.”

The Atletico Madrid forward has scored three goals in South Africa, hitting an eye-catching brace against the hosts followed by an equaliser against Ghana in the quarter-finals.
