AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has revealed he would be thrilled to welcome Brazil midfielder Kaká back to the San Siro should he choose to leave Real Madrid this summer.
The 28-year-old playmaker swapped Milan for Madrid in 2009 but the midfielder has struggled with injuries at the Bernabeu and has recently been linked with a move away from Spain.
Berlusconi said: “Kaká is an extraordinary man. If he wants to come back to Milan we will welcome him with open arms.”
The Milan owner also hailed his club’s Serie A triumph after they ended Internazionale’s run of five consecutive league crowns last weekend.
“Milan have confirmed that they are the most successful club in the world. We have another trophy, and we are happy and satisfied,” said Berlusconi. “I think it was a victory that was thoroughly deserved.”
He added: “It was a special season, as we have to remember that during the campaign we had no less than 11 players in the infirmary. We lost Inzaghi, Pato and IbrahimoviÄ”¡ and sometimes suffered offensively.”
A major overhaul of the Milan squad is expected this summer, with Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf, Alessandro Nesta and Massimo Ambrosini all out of contract at the San Siro.
Pirlo is expected to join Juventus but 35-year-old Dutch midfielder Seedorf has expressed his frustration at Milan’s reluctance to offer new deals to their veteran stars.
“The club asked us to wait until we had won the Scudetto and that’s what we did,” Seedorf told Corriere dello Sport. “Now we want clarity and respect. You don’t treat flag bearers of this club like this.
“I’m not feeling good, that is for certain. My relationship with Berlusconi is clear, but it’s [vice-president Adriano] Galliani who looks after these things.
“I’ve spent half of my career here. My rapport with Milan has not changed – my love is as it was. Perhaps we need to understand whether the opposite is occurring.”
