Juan Martin del Potro has revealed that he is fit to play at the French Open after recovering from the hip injury he suffered in Madrid two weeks ago.

The 2009 US Open champion, who missed most of 2010 with wrist problem, revealed on Twitter that after “great effort” he is ready to compete at the second Grand Slam of the year.

“See you in Paris!” added the 22-year-old, whose best performance at Roland Garros came in 2009 when he reached the semi-finals but was beaten by Roger Federer in a five-set thriller.

Del Potro was out of action for nine months in 2010, causing him to plummet outside the top 500, but he has already secured two tournament wins this year and is currently ranked No37.

The former world No4 beat Spain’s Fernando Verdasco to win the Estoril Open in Portugal earlier this month before having to pull out of a third-round clash with Rafael Nadal in Madrid with a torn hip muscle.

The main draw for the 2011 French Open takes place on Friday.
