Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has challenged the Reds to carry the momentum from their impressive run of form into their trips to Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Kenny Dalglish’s team have made a promising start to their Premier League campaign, collecting seven points from their first three games in August.
And the 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder has urged his side to maintain their good run ahead of two testing fixtures, starting at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday before a trip to Spurs next Sunday.
“We know we have two away games now and it’s really important to get points in the away games,” he told Liverpool’s website. “It always makes a big difference at the end of the season.
“We have to keep going and try to play well – the same way we have in the first three games. If we do, I am sure we will get points and we’ll have another good month.”
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has added ex-Liverpool striker Peter Crouch to his squad during the summer, and Lucas admits the Reds will face a difficult test in trying to cope with the aerial threat posed by the former Spurs hit-man.
“We know how difficult it is to play against Stoke, especially on their own ground,” the Brazilian continued. “They have a physical game and big players, and their set pieces are always really difficult to defend.
“We have to go there ready to fight, try to play football and win. A lot of big clubs go there and can’t win, but it will be a very good test for us to see how we cope with this type of team.”
