Welcome to the second instalment of The Tipster – a new regular column featuring a selection of the latest Premier League odds to help you make up your mind about where to put your money.

Today’s Premier League picks are all about Sunderland’s trip to Arsenal and Tottenham’s visit to St James’ Park. Let’s get the ball rolling…

Over 2.5 goals in Arsenal v Sunderland – 7/10

Neither Arsenal nor Sunderland have been convincing at the back this season. The Black Cats’ last four league fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals, while The Gunners’ last three matches in the league have produced a staggering 13. An easy first tip to get us started. Bet365 odds

Robin van Persie to score at any time – 4/5

The Arsenal skipper has netted three league goals in six appearances this season, including a brace at home against Bolton. On Sunday, the erratic Sunderland defence will be to his liking, and with the Dutch forward likely to be on penalty duty too, 4/5 represents good value. Bet365 odds

Over 3.5 cards in Arsenal v Sunderland – 8/13

Howard Webb is one of the Premier League’s more card-happy referees – and who can forget his total of 14 yellows in the World Cup final? The Tipster is convinced that over 3.5 cards is a safe bet when Webb is the man in the middle, especially as the Yorkshireman has already been issuing cautions at a rate of 5.4 per game so far this term. Bet365 odds

Both teams to score in Newcastle v Tottenham – 8/13

The last five fixtures between these two sides have featured goals for both teams. Newcastle’s last three league games have seen neither side keep a clean sheet. And it’s a similar case for Spurs – both teams have scored in two of their last three fixtures. Clearly then, 8/13 on both sides scoring is another value bet. Bet365 odds

The long shot: Yohan Cabaye first goalscorer – 12/1

Newcastle attacking midfielder Yohan Cabaye has impressed since his move from Lille in the summer. The France international hit 18 goals in his last two seasons in Ligue 1 but he is yet to open his account for his new club. The 25-year-old has already started to showcase his shooting skills since his transfer – so today’s speculative long-range effort is for Cabaye to open his account with the game’s first goal on Sunday at 12/1.
