Bevan, speaking at the Professional Players Federation conference in London on Monday, confirmed that some clubs owned by foreigners have already voiced their support for a possible vote to abolish relegation.
And the LMA chief fears clubs could succeed in forcing through the radical overhaul should “four or five” more Premier League clubs end up in foreign hands.
“We’re very keen that the recent Department for Culture Media and Sport report is successful in helping the FA get to a stage where they’ve got a licencing programme for clubs,” said Bevan.
“Because there are a number of overseas-owned clubs already talking about bringing about the avoidance of promotion and relegation in the Premier League. If we have four or five more new owners, that could happen.”
