Stephen Hunt believes Wolverhampton Wanderers will have to repeat the likes of their battling performance against Arsenal on a regular basis if they want to remain in the Premier League.
Steven Fletcher cancelled out Gervinho’s opener in the eighth minute before Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey produced a superb second-half display to deny the Gunners a winner.
And Hunt has urged Mick McCarthy’s side to maintain the same attitude for their vital relegation clash against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday.
“Everyone is desperate to stay in this league,” said Hunt. “Everyone is putting their bodies on the line. Sometimes they hit you and go in, sometimes they hit you and go past the post.
“You have to believe that you can get something anywhere in the Premier League if you defend right. You have to be brave with your blocks, there were bodies flying left right and centre in the box.
“You could see from the manager’s reaction at the end of the game what it meant. We are a close unit and we have to be.
“It is going to be a hard game there, so we will have to be up for it and ready for the scrap again. There is no point getting a draw at Arsenal, then losing to Bolton on Saturday. We will crack on again now.”
The 30-year-old Republic of International hailed shot-stopper Hennessey’s performance at the Emirates, insisting the Welsh goalkeeper is one of the Premier League’s best.
“Wayne has the same style as [Edwin] van der Sar, he is tall, with a good physique,” the midfielder added. “If he has the right desire to get to the top four, I think he will.”
