The west Midlands outfit have not won at home since their 3-2 victory over Norwich City back in early November, and McLeish’s side have only managed to earn two Villa Park points following their win over the Canaries.
“We haven’t collected the three points at Villa Park for a while now,” said McLeish. “Everton had a great result against Manchester City at Goodison Park the other week so it shows they are not unbeatable.
“We have yet to take a point let alone beat any of the top six on our own patch this season so it is up to the players to go out there and change that statistic.
“It would be great to beat Manchester City, who are title contenders and a much-improved team since Roberto Mancini took over.
“They will be expected to win wherever they go so we will need to show the passion and commitment we showed in the game against Arsenal.
“There’s a long spell after Manchester City until the next home game so we need to do absolutely everything in our power to win it and send the fans home happy.”
Meanwhile, the 53-year-old manager is tipping Manchester United to retain their league crown ahead of Roberto Mancini’s side.
“City have a good chance,” he added. “My head tells me United are the team that I think anyone who finishes above them will win the league.”
