Wayne Rooney has scored against all of last season's top five this term. Can he add Liverpool to his list?

Wayne Rooney has already fired home 20 goals for Manchester United this season, netting at least once against all of last season’s top five.

And our resident betting expert is tipping the England forward to add Liverpool to his hit-list when the two sides do battle at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

Also in this United v Liverpool special edition, find out why the Tipster is backing the defending champions to win – but only by a narrow margin – and why we should expect plenty of goals.

Wayne Rooney to score at any time against Liverpool – 11/10

Former Everton striker Wayne Rooney relishes the chance to inflict misery on Liverpool. The 26-year-old has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season, including four strikes in his last four games. The England international has also netted against all of last season’s top five so far this term. So, the Tipster is backing United’s talisman to make it a perfect six and bag a goal against the Reds at Old Trafford on Saturday at an extremely tempting 11/10.

Manchester United to beat Liverpool – 5/6

Liverpool have not fared well at Old Trafford in recent seasons. In fact, the Merseyside outfit have not left United with a single point since their memorable 4-1 victory back in 2009. A lot has changed since that win: Rafael Benítez has gone, their former American owners were given the boot out of Anfield and Fernando Torres now plays for Chelsea. United are favourites to edge another victory and deal the Reds a blow in their pursuit of a fourth-place finish. And Sir Alex Ferguson’s side to emerge victorious is good value at 5/6.
Bet365 odds

Manchester United to beat Liverpool by one goal – 11/4

Despite United’s recent dominance in this fixture, Ferguson’s side have not managed to reach the heights of their 8-2 dismantling of Arsenal or the 3-1 victory over Chelsea when it comes to facing their most bitter rivals Liverpool. Ryan Giggs’ second-minute penalty was enough to beat Liverpool in the FA Cup last season, while the Reds mounted a comeback from two goals down in this league fixture last year, only for Dimitar Berbatov to complete his hat-trick and snatch a 3-2 win. United to win by a single goal is another value bet here at 11/4.
Bet365 odds

Over 2.5 goals in Manchester United v Liverpool – 19/20

Goals seem a certainty in this fixture. Four of United’s last five home games have featured over 2.5, including Blackburn Rovers’ surprise 3-2 victory at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Kenny Dalglish’s side suffered a shock 3-1 defeat by Bolton Wanderers just under three weeks ago but bounced back in their next away game with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. So, over 2.5 goals on Saturday is a more-than-solid shout at 19/20.
Bet365 odds

The long shot: Hernández to score last in Man Utd v Liverpool – 9/2

Javier Hernández has made scoring against Liverpool a habit since moving to the Premier League in 2010. The Mexican striker scored a consolation in their 3-1 defeat at Anfield last season, and the 23-year-old cancelled out Steven Gerrard’s 68th minute free-kick in the dying moments of the league tie between these two sides on Merseyside to grab a 1-1 draw back in October. Hernández to score last on Saturday is this edition’s audacious long shot at 9/2.
