Harry Redknapp remains confident Tottenham Hotspur can secure third place ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea, despite suffering their third successive defeat against Everton on Saturday.

Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at The Emirates on Monday night moved the Gunners to within a point of Spurs.

But despite their poor run of form, Redknapp has urged his side to concentrate on their league position and qualifying for the Champions League next season.

“We have to keep going,” Redknapp told Spurs’ website. “I said that Arsenal beat us fair and square and we got what we deserved, nothing.

“Last week, we played ever so well against United, I felt it was unfortunate and again I thought we were very unfortunate at Everton – that’s football.

“I said all along that 10 points can evaporate very quickly and I looked at the fixtures and knew going away to Arsenal, United at home, Everton and then Chelsea away, they are all tough games.

“We are still in a better position than the other teams so we have to keep going, keep believing and we will turn it around. We will go again.

“It’s difficult trying to finish above teams like City, United have been there and done it every year, Arsenal are in the Champions League every year.”

The Spurs boss added: “It’s a tall order to finish above these teams but I still think we will finish third.”
