The 23-year-old flanker was unsure as to the extent of his injury with specialists initially unable to detect the exact problem with his shoulder.
But Warburton, who guided Wales to a third Grand Slam in eight years in the 2012 Six Nations, has suffered no structural damage and is as a result hoping to be fit for Cardiff Blues’ final match of the season against the Scarlets.
That would present Warburton with the opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of Wales’ summer tour Down Under, which gets underway in June.
“Hopefully I can see some more rugby before this season ends,” said Warburton.
“It’s not going to be months and months and months out like I first anticipated.”
Warburton sustained the injury during Wales’ 16-9 win over France. In the immediate aftermath of Wales’ Grand Slam victory, he cast doubt over his involvement in the summer tour as he feared a lengthy absence.
