Emmanuel Adebayor has confirmed that he is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the possibility of joining the London club on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell at White Hart Lane last season.

The 28-year-old joined Spurs on loan from Manchester City last August and slotted seamlessly into Harry Redknapp’s first-team, netting 18 goals in all competitions for the Londoners.

Redknapp has previously admitted that the Togolese striker’s wage demands may prove to be a stumbling block to any permanent deal – but the forward took to his Twitter account on Monday to confirm that discussions over a move have begun.

“Loved my spell at Tottenham. We are working hard with the chairman [Daniel Levy] to make it permanent. Will keep you informed!” he wrote.
