England and Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere: “Not many have the experience that Roy Hodgson has, proved he is a top manager at international level so don’t see no reason why he can’t do it. For England….good choice in my opinion! Good luck and I hope I can help him in some way in the future! #3Lions #England”

West Brom midfielder Steven Reid: “Good luck to Roy Hodgson. Been a pleasure working with him. Brought the club forward massively! Obviously those in the press who have hammered Hodgson have never met or worked with the man.”

West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie: “Good luck to Roy Hodgson with his new job. Was a pleasure working with him. Hope he will do well with the England national team.”

West Brom and former England goalkeeper Ben Foster: “Really happy for Roy Hodgson. Got to be one of the best coaches in football.”

Former England striker Gary Lineker: “Good luck to Roy Hodgson. Let’s give the fella a chance. Roy Hodgson’s a wily old fox with bags of experience at all levels of the game. Tactically may bring out the best in England at the Euros.”

Former England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn: “Roy hodgson ok not who we thought but he deserves us all to get behind him. It doesn’t feel like it but this could be a good appointment.”

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore: “Roy Hodgson,I salute you!! Good luck, real England fans wish you all the very very best!!! Come.On.England. #england”

Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey: “I owe a lot to Roy because he gave me my Liverpool debut. He is a good manager and, although things didn’t work out for him here, it wasn’t just him to blame.”

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic: “Fair play to Roy Hodgson. Great manager and would be a great appointment for the FA! #classact”

Former Sunderland midfielder Michael Gray: “I know Roy Hodgson has a tough job choosing the squad for the euros but I would love the younger generation to get an opportunity to impress.”
