Cristiano Ronaldo will be the key man as Portugal face the Czech Republic in the first Euro 2012 quarter-final – and the Tipster is backing the Real Madrid striker to net against Chelsea’s Petr Cech on Thursday.

Our resident betting expert is predicting an entertaining last-eight encounter, tipping both sides to score. But he reckons Ronaldo will be the difference and should help Portugal ease to victory – and by a two-goal margin at least.

Ronaldo to score at any time against Czech Republic – Evens

Ronaldo finally ended his wait for a goal at Euro 2012 with a spectacular brace against the Netherlands as the former Manchester United forward produced a world-class performance. The 27-year-old was in similarly prolific goal scoring form for Real Madrid, netting 46 goals in La Liga last season. So The Tipster’s opening bet for this edition is for the clinical Ronaldo to score at any time for Portugal against Czech Republic at Evens.

Portugal to beat the Czech Republic – 8/11

Portugal are currently on a two-game winning streak courtesy of victories over Denmark and the Dutch after losing their opening Group B game against Germany. The last meeting between these two sides saw Ronaldo net in a 3-1 victory in the group stage at Euro 2008. The Tipster reckons Paulo Bento’s men will have too much for Petr Cech and company on Thursday, and is backing the Portuguese to win at 8/11.

Both teams to score in Portugal v Czech Republic – Evens

In Group B, dubbed the ‘Group of Death’, Portugal eased to a 2-1 win over Bert van Marwijk’s side before clinching a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Danes. The only team to deny Bento’s side from scoring were the Germans – Joachim Low’s men were 1-0 winners. Meanwhile, in all three of the Czech Republic’s Group A games, both sides scored. Therefore, Portugal and Czech Republic to both net is clearly great value at Evens.
Bet365 odds

Portugal to beat the Czechs by two goals or more – 2/1

When these two countries met at Euro 2008, goals from Deco, Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma helped secure a 3-1 victory for Portugal. In qualifying for this European championship, the Portuguese won four of their eight games by a two-goal margin, including a 3-1 win over Denmark in Porto. So, the Tipster considers Portugal to beat the Czech Republic by at least two goals to be an excellent bet at solid odds of 2/1.
Bet365 odds

The long shot: Ronaldo to score first and Portugal to win – 4/1

Ronaldo appears to have finally laid his demons to rest after struggling to find the net in the opening two group games. The former United forward scored first in a 2-1 win over the Dutch, and in Euro 2012 qualifying, he scored the opening goal in Portugal victories twice. Who would back against Ronaldo rising to the occasion on Thursday? Certainly not the Tipster! Our man-in-the-know’s ambitious long shot for this edition is for Ronaldo to score first and Portugal to win at 4/1.
