Wayne Rooney will finally make his Euro 2012 bow on Tuesday night – and the Tipster is backing England’s talismanic striker to score against Ukraine as Group D reaches its conclusion.

Our resident betting expert expects a cagey game between the Three Lions and Ukraine, but is backing Roy Hodgson’s side to win.

And in the other group game, our man-in-the-know is tipping striker Karim Benzema to net in a high-scoring clash between France and Sweden.

Tuesday’s Euro 2012 fixtures:
England v Ukraine (1945BST) Donetsk, Group D
Sweden v France (1945BST) Kiev, Group D

Rooney to score at any time for England v Ukraine – 13/10

The Manchester United striker enjoyed one of his best seasons at Old Trafford last term, scoring 27 goals in 34 Premier League appearances. The 26-year-old is sure to be raring to go after missing the opening two Group D games, and will be desperate to make it 29 goals in 75 appearances for the national team. So with that in mind, The Tipster’s opening bet for this edition is for Rooney to score at any time for England against Ukraine at 13/10.
Bet365 odds

Under 2.5 goals between England and Ukraine – 4/5

Manager Hodgson will have been focusing on improving England’s defence after the Three Lions conceded an uncharacteristic two goals against Sweden. The 64-year-old’s opening three games in charge all finished with under 2.5 goals, while Ukraine endured a 2-0 defeat in their last game. So under 2.5 goals between England and Ukraine looks like a solid bet at 4/5.
Bet365 odds

Benzema to score at any time for France v Sweden – 21/20

The Real Madrid striker was in impressive form for his club last season, scoring 21 goals in 34 La Liga appearances. France will look to claim top spot in Group D and avoid Spain in the quarter-finals by comfortably beating Sweden, and Benzema is in form after netting against Ukraine last Friday. The Tipster is backing Benzema to score at any time against Sweden at solid odds of 21/20.
Bet365 odds

Over 2.5 goals between France and Sweden – Evens

Only Germany and the Netherlands scored more goals than Sweden in qualifying, while Laurent Blanc’s France side boasts an attacking line-up which includes talents such as Benzema, Franck Ribéry, and Samir Nasri. Sweden’s last Euro 2012 game against England finished 3-2 in favour of Hodgson’s side. So The Tipster is predicting another high-scoring game, with over 2.5 goals a good bet at Evens.
Bet365 odds

The long shot: Rooney to score first and England to win – 6/1

Rooney has never been one to falter under pressure, and the Red Devils striker has a lot to prove after missing the opening two games through suspension. The former Everton striker scored first in 11 games for United last season in matches where Sir Alex Ferguson’s side went on to claim three points. Therefore, the Tipster’s long shot for this edition is for Rooney to score first and England to win at extremely tempting odds of 6/1. You heard it here first.
