The Tipster is backing Ashley Young to score for England against France, but expects Les Bleus to triumph in the Group D opener

The Tipster is hugely excited about England’s Euro 2012 opener against France on Monday. Our man-in-the-know is backing Ashley Young to score for Roy Hodgson’s side but expects their opening Group D game to ultimately end in disappointment.
Our resident betting expert reckons France will edge to a win against England, helped by Karim Benzema, while also tipping Zlatan Ibrahimovic to inspire Sweden to victory over Ukraine.

Ashley Young to score at any time against France – 4/1
Young’s impressive form for England will almost certainly see Roy Hodgson hand the Manchester United forward a start against France. The 26-year-old has scored four goals in his last five England appearances, including a superb solo effort against Norway. So the Tipster’s opening bet for this edition is for Young to score for England against France at any time at solid odds of 4/1.
Bet365 odds
France to beat England – 6/4
France are unbeaten in 21 games, winning 15 matches since their 1-0 defeat by Belarus in September 2010. Furthermore, England are without a victory against France in five attempts, including that 2-1 loss to Les Bleus at Euro 2004. Sadly for the Three Lions, The Tipster reckons France to beat England is a good bet at 6/4.
Bet365 odds
Sweden to beat Ukraine – 2/1
Sweden have won their last four internationals, and were 1-0 winners against Ukraine in their last meeting in 2011. Erik Hamren’s side netted 31 goals in qualifying – only Germany and the Netherlands scored more. Therefore, Sweden to make a winning start to Group D is excellent value at 2/1.
Bet365 odds
Sweden’s Ibrahimovic to score at any time v Ukraine – 15/8
Sweden striker Ibrahimovic has scored in three of his last four international outings, and he netted an impressive five goals in eight appearances in qualifying. The 30-year-old scored 28 goals in 32 appearances for AC Milan in Serie A last term, so the Tipster is backing Ibrahimovic to net against Ukraine at tempting odds of 15/8.
Bet365 odds
The long shot: Benzema to score first and France to win – 6/1
Karim Benzema scored two goals for France in their last warm-up game against Estonia. The 24-year-old netted 21 times in 34 appearances for Real Madrid last season, becoming the highest scoring Frenchman in a single La Liga campaign – eclipsing a record set by Zinedine Zidane. With all that in mind, The Tipster’s audacious long-range effort for this edition is for Benzema to score first and France to beat England at 6/1.
