Gareth Bale has committed his immediate future to Tottenham Hotspur by signing a new four-year deal with the Londoners.

The Wales winger has relentlessly been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane after becoming one of European football’s hottest prospects with some sparkling displays for Spurs in recent seasons.

Bale won admirers across Europe for his eye-catching performances in the Champions League as Spurs made it to the quarter-finals in 2011 before being beaten by Real Madrid.

And the 22-year-old says he is focused on helping the Londoners qualify for Europe’s elite club competition once again.

“I’ve been here for five years now and I’ve enjoyed every minute,” Bale said. “The fans have been great to me and I’d love to re-pay them and do the very best for them.

“The club is progressing and I want to be a part of that, so it was great to get the deal done.

“I love the club and the fans and I want to play my part in trying to get us back into the Champions League – where we belong. We’ve a good, young squad and we need to work together to get back on the biggest stage again.”

Bale joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2007 aged 17 and has scored 29 goals in 160 appearances for Spurs.
