The prize for the winner of the second semi-final is a meeting with Spain in the Kiev showpiece – and the Tipster is backing Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli to score for Italy against Germany on Thursday night!

Our man-in-the-know is tipping both sides to score and over 2.5 goals in what should be a thrilling encounter between two of the superpowers of world football, while also backing Real Madrid’s Mesut Ozil to net for Germany.

Balotelli to score at any time against Germany – 10/3

Balotelli was impressive against England despite being denied his second goal of Euro 2012 by a desperate challenge by John Terry and a series of saves by Joe Hart. The 21-year-old scored a spectacular overhead kick against the Republic of Ireland, and the Manchester City striker thrives on big occasions – who can forget is calm finish in the 6-1 win at Old Trafford in 2011? So The Tipster’s opening bet for this edition is Balotelli to score at any time at 10/3.

Both sides to score in Germany v Italy – Evens

Both sides have scored in two of the last three meetings between Germany and Italy. Joachim Low’s side have netted in every game at Euro 2012 so far, despite facing some mean defences in the so-called ‘Group of Death’. Meanwhile, Italy have only been denied once – by England in the quarter-finals. The Tipster reckons both sides to score is a solid bet here at Evens.

Over 2.5 goals in Italy against Germany – 13/10

Germany have scored nine goals en route to the semi-final, while Italy have scored slightly fewer, managing four in total. There have been over 2.5 goals in each of Germany’s games except for their 1-0 victory over Portugal in their opener. Meanwhile, there were two goals in each of Italy’s Group C ties, so over 2.5 goals is a solid bet on Thursday night at 13/10.

Ozil to score at any time against Italy – 15/4

Mesut Ozil is the fulcrum of Low’s side, and when the Real Madrid star is at his best, it usually means Germany are too. The 23-year-old has scored seven goals for the La Liga club last season, and has netted eight times in 37 appearances for his national side. The Tipster is backing the former Werder Bremen midfielder Özil to score at any time against Gianluigi Buffon on Thursday night at 15/4.

The long shot: Italy to beat Germany in extra-time – 16/1

Germany will be favourites to reach the final and look to avenge their Euro 2008 final defeat by Spain. But Italy cannot be underestimated with plenty of experience in their ranks, including Buffon, Daniele De Rossi and Andrea Pirlo. The Azzurri memorably beat Germany 2-0 in the World Cup semi-finals in 2006, with Alessandro Del Piero and Fabio Grosso both scoring in extra-time – Italy went on to win the tournament. So with all that in mind, The Tipster’s ambitious long shot for this edition is for Italy to beat Germany in extra-time at brilliant odds of 16/1.
