The Tipster is looking forward to Spain’s first game of their European championship defence against Italy – and is backing Fernando Torres to score for Vicente Del Bosque’s side on Sunday.

Our man-in-the-know is also backing Spain to score at least two goals against Italy, and to be winning at half-time and full-time, while tipping the Republic of Ireland to frustrate Croatia with under 1.5 goals in Poznan.

Place a pre-match bet on the Spain v Italy game and we will give you a free In-Play bet to the same stake on the big match. Torres to score at any time against Italy – 7/4

Torres will be looking to carry his end-of-season form for Chelsea into Euro 2012 with the national team. Del Bosque has shown his loyalty to the under-performing striker by picking him – and the 28-year-old will be eager to repay his manager’s faith. Torres has scored 28 goals in 92 appearances for Spain, and the Tipster reckons 7/4 for him to net on Sunday is definitely worth a punt.
Bet365 odds

Spain to be winning at half-time and full-time – 7/4

Spain will look to take advantage of an Italian side hit by disruptions in their preparations for Euro 2012. The holders have won all eight games in qualifying, and they will be desperate to start their defence in style. So, Spain to be winning at half-time and full-time is great value at 7/4.
Bet365 odds

Spain to score two goals or more against Italy – 7/2

Del Bosque’s side have won their last five matches, scoring 15 goals in the process. During qualifying, Spain managed an impressive total of 26 goals, netting at least two goals in all of their eight fixtures. The holders are 7/2 to score at least two goals against the 2006 World Cup winners.
Bet365 odds

Under 1.5 goals in Croatia v Republic of Ireland – 11/8

Croatia have kept a clean sheet in their last three games, while Ireland’s last two games have finished with under 1.5 goals. Giovanni Trapattoni’s side are sure to employ a defensive approach to their Euro 2012 opener, and look to counter-attack against Croatia. The Tipster reckons it will be a cagey game, with under 1.5 goals a good bet at 11/8.
Bet365 odds

The long shot: Keane to score first and Ireland to win – 10/1

Ireland are the perceived weak link in Group C, but that tag will suit Trapattoni’s men. They are unbeaten in their last 14 games, and have a good record at major tournaments. Robbie Keane will captain Ireland at their first European championship since 1988, and the country’s record goal scorer with 53 strikes will be on penalty duty on Sunday. So The Tipster’s ambitious long shot for this edition is for Robbie Keane to score first and Ireland to win at great odds of 10/1. Bet365 odds
