Uefa president Michel Platini has claimed that Euro 2020 could be spread across a number of different cities around the continent.

The 57-year-old revealed his idea at a pre-Euro 2012 final media conference in Kiev, with Platini’s latest plan prompting a huge reaction on Twitter.

To kick us off, Mojowo Odiase ‏(@mojoodiase) hopes Platini’s suggestion was purely for comedic value: “I hope Platini was joking about Euro 2020.”

But it isn’t, and Ali Ali ‏(@Alindinho) comes up with a better continent to host Euro 2020: “Platini wants Euro 2020 to be held in 12 different countries across the continent. How about you do you it in Africa?”

While, Lewis (‏@lewisquinn) wants to know who will qualify automatically as hosts: “Platini is a massive idiot, playing the Euro 2020 tournament all over the continent. Will we all qualify as hosts?”

And it’s a common question: Sajid D (‏@S_Desai): “If Euro 2020 is held in ‘12 or 13 countries at once’ does that mean there will be 13 automatic tournament spots for these hosts? #platini”

Sports Nut Blogs (‏@sportsnutblogs) reckons Platini needs a few lessons on the concept of co-hosts: “I don’t think Michel Plantini understands the purpose of host countries for Euro 2020. Two is fine, but multiple countries? Makes no sense.”

And Richard Jeffrey ‏(@RichardJeffrey1) believes Platini is ruining his legacy as a footballer: “Euro 2020 played in 12/13 countries? Another Platini special! Great at playing, but hopeless at running football!”

However, Jake Duckenfield ‏(@DuckySWFC) sees a positive for England: “If this Euro 2020 business is true, London has got to be a city!”

But Adam Reakes ‏(@Reakesie) is not so sure: “Platini will give every major city in Europe a Euro 2020 game to host but will still leave out London. Typical UEFA!”

And Ian Spicer (‏@I_Spicer) agrees: “Platini wants Euro 2020 hosted by 12 countries, bet #England still miss out on hosting games”

Ryan Savo (@RyanJaySavo) just considers it a “barmy” idea: “So Platini reckons Euro 2020 could be held in 12 countries? He’s so BARMY it’s unbelievable.”

However, Zac Gangte ‏(@zacgangte) reckons it could be a very different-looking Europe in eight years’ time: “Euro 2020 could be staged in 12 countries. Not entirely sure if Europe will still exist by then!”

But, Platini has a supporter in Neil Macdonald (@filthyjabba): “See no reason why a Euro 2020 in 12 different countries wouldn’t work.”

Sean Freer (‏@SeanFreer) comes up with a brainwave which Platini might like: “Euro 2020 is going to take place around the world in 80 days apparently!”

While Hassan Humels Chanda (@HassanChanda7) suggest a new location: “Euro 2020 is going to be held in the USA!”

Shaun Edwards ‏(@crashingbeats) picks out an ideal location for the final: “Michel Platini wants to hold Euro 2020 across 12-13 countries. Apparently the final will be held on the moon! #plotfirmlylost”

Finally, Jack (‏@MyExIsAPsycho) is offering to host the group stage for Platini: “Euro 2020 group games will be played in my back garden with jumpers for goalposts.”
