Man Utd’s Rooney: I have no problems with my temperament

Wayne Rooney insists he has his temper under control as he prepares to make his first appearance at Euro 2012

Wayne Rooney has played down fears over his temperament, insisting he has “no problem” with his on-pitch attitude.

The striker is yet to feature at the European championship after sitting out England’s first two group games through the suspension he picked up as a result of his red card against Montenegro in qualifying.

The 26-year-old is set to return to the fray for England’s final Group D clash against co-hosts Ukraine on Tuesday – and the Manchester United striker insists he has his temper under control.

When asked if he needs to assess how he channels his aggression, Rooney replied: “I think I have done all season.

“What happened [in Montenegro] was a mistake. I understood that and apologised to the guy. I’ve paid the price. I’ve had to take it.

“I have no problems with my attitude or my temperament. I’m happy and I’m ready to play.”
