Xabi Alonso scored twice to help Spain ease to a 2-0 victory over France in Donetsk and set up a tantalising semi-final against Germany at Euro 2012.

The former Liverpool midfielder netted either side of half-time to help end Spain’s miserable record against the French, and current and former professionals were generally impressed by the manner of the victory.
