Ferdinand, Wright & more: Twitter on Redknapp’s Tottenham sacking
Tottenham have sacked Harry Redknapp after almost four years in charge, sparking a flurry of reaction on Twitter

Tottenham have confirmed Harry Redknapp’s departure as manager after almost four years in charge at White Hart Lane.
The 65-year-old had 12 months left on his contract and leaves after guiding Spurs to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League, with many famous football names shocked by his departure.
Here is some of the Twitter reaction to Tottenham’s decision to sack Redknapp.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright (@IanWright0) is both delighted and bemused by Harry Redknapp’s departure: “It’s a great excuse for any player who wants to leave Spurs! I can’t wait to see the fallout of this one. Just when I thought Spurs were on Arsenal’s tails, Levy gets rid of the manager! Hopefully AFC will make some big signings…..They should go for Martinez: Premier League experience, good football and seems like a loyal bloke. Young enough to see a project through.”
Former Liverpool defender Neil Ruddock (@RealRazor) is shocked by the news of Redknapp’s exit: “Really surprised to hear Harry Redknapp has left Spurs, who could better what he has done….”
Norwich City’s Anthony Pilkington (@Pilkington_11) believes Redknapp will be a tough man to replace at White Hart Lane: “Wow Harry has left Spurs! Crazy news! Can’t believe #Spurs have let him go. They will do well to replace him surely. Manager-Merry-go-Round.”
Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun (@YossiBenayoun15) is bemused by Tottenham’s decision: “Good morning, Redknapp out? Strange one….”
While, Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) was impressed with Redknapp’s transformation of Spurs: “Just woke up to the news that Harry Redknapp is no longer Spurs manager???? Wow!! I thought he was doing a great job there….”
And Red Devils legend Peter Schmeichel (@Pschmeichel1) is shocked: “Football’s gone mad ‘@SkySports: Harry Redknapp is to leave his post as Tottenham manager, the club have confirmed. Full story to follow.’”
Former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) appears to be in agreement with Piers Morgan: “RT @piersmorgan: Spurs getting rid of Harry Redknapp is, even by their standards, unbelievable idiocy. Ex-Bradford City manager Chris Kamara (@chris_kammy) reckons David Moyes is heading to Spurs: “Just heard the news that Harry Redknapp gone & David Moyes taking over Spurs?? Wow the magic roundabout in full swing, but who gets Everton?” Ex-Tottenham midfielder Rohan Ricketts (@RohanRicketts) questions Daniel Levy’s decision: “If Spurs have sacked Harry Redknapp, they need their head checking!! What could possibly be wrong?” Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar (@Lord_Sugar) jokes about taking the job and appointing Piers Morgan as his assistant: “I would like to be the new manager of Spurs just to give the media something to write about….@piersmorgan I might take the Spurs manager job – will you be my no 2? Together we could win the Champions League.” Open a bet365 account with £10 or more and you'll get a free bet of up to £200 on us. Click here for more information.
