Shinji Kagawa: I want to make history at Manchester United
Shinji Kagawa says he wants to write his name into Manchester United history after joining the Red Devils on a four-year deal
Shinji Kagawa admits he is relishing the prospect of writing his name into Manchester United folklore after signing a four-year deal with the Red Devils.
The Japan international completed his transfer from Borussia Dortmund on Friday for an undisclosed fee following months of speculation linking the 23-year-old with a move to Old Trafford.
And Kagawa says he is already looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead at United.
“When I saw Old Trafford and reflected on its tradition, I thought of all the legends that have played here. I want to write my name in the club’s history,” said Kagawa.
“As soon as I signed my contract I realised that this is the start of my challenge and it’s one I’m looking forward to.”
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Kagawa will slot into his first-team plans with ease.
He said: “Shinji is an exciting young midfielder with great skill, vision and a good eye for goal. I am delighted he has chosen to come to United.
“I believe he will make an impact upon the team very quickly as he is suited to United’s style of play. We are all looking forward to working with him.” ![]()
