Shinji Kagawa signing delights Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Japan's Shinji Kagawa will be a big hit at Old Trafford

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted his delight at Manchester United’s capture of Shinji Kagawa after the Japanese midfielder completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford on Friday.
The 23-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Red Devils and will become the first Japanese player to represent United.
Kagawa scored 17 goals in 40 appearances for Jürgen Klopp’s side as Dortmund won the Bundesliga title for the second successive season and eased to a 5-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the German Cup final.
“Shinji is an exciting young midfielder with great skill, vision and a good eye for goal,” said Ferguson. “I am delighted he has chosen to come to United.
“I believe he will make an impact upon the team very quickly as he is suited to United’s style of play. We are all looking forward to working with him.”
Kagawa became an integral part of Dortmund’s success and was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season in 2011 after he was signed from Cerezo Osaka for €350,000 (£284,000) at the start of the campaign.
The Japan international ended his Dortmund career in style, setting up a goal and scoring in their 5-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the German Cup final, but he admitted joining the 19-time English champions represents a massive challenge in his career.
“This is a challenge I am really looking forward to,” said Kagawa. “The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is such a massive club.
“This is a really exciting time for me. I can’t wait to meet the team and start playing.” ![]()
