Ben Foster completed his transfer to West Bromwich Albion from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee on Friday.

The 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal at The Hawthorns, and his move prompted Tweets of delight from West Brom supporters, while Birmingham fans are confident Jack Butland can replace the former Manchester United goalkeeper at St Andrew’s.

Adam Heal ‏(@heal1979) considers it a solid signing for Steve Clarke’s side: “Ben Foster – nice first signing of the summer for #wba.”

And Stuart White (‏@woollywhite) believes it’s a timely addition: “Great boost for everyone at #wba that Ben Foster has joined permanently. Effectively a five year deal too? Brilliant news.”

Stuart Morris ‏(@stuwba68) is hoping be singing this number many times next season: “He dives to the left! He dives to the right! That boy Ben Foster…. is super dynamite!”

Lloyd Jasper ‏(@albionlloyd) was impressed by the former England goalkeeper’s performances last season: “Very pleased West Brom have signed Ben Foster for an undisclosed fee. He’s a quality keeper, which he showed last season for us.”

But WBA 68 ‏(@sewell71) doubted West Brom would get Foster – so is doubly happy: “Really surprised we ended up signing Ben foster but really chuffed. #COYB”

And Sant Jhooti ‏(@sevewba) hails Foster’s arrival: “Absolutely ecstatic to hear that West Brom have finally signed Ben Foster…what a signing!!!!!!!!!!”

Neil Mc Elduff ‏(@macca61) believes Foster represents their best shot-stopper for many years: “Ben Foster signed! Yessss! Best goalkeeper I have ever seen at#wba. Delighted!”

However, Birmingham fan Tommy Durno ‏(@tdurno) is confident the St Andrew’s side have a more-than-able replacement: “Ben Foster, you’re a great keeper! But roll on Jack Butland being number 1 :D”

Meanwhile, Pasha Hajian ‏(@PashaHajian) points out that Foster has failed to live up to his own expectations so far: “Funny that no one said anything about this but I remember Ben Foster leaving Manchester United to get into the first-team squad for England…Never made it..”

Finally, Angie Singer (‏@angieasinger) is getting her Ben Fosters confused: “Anyone else think Ben Foster trending was the guy in x men/alpha dogs/the mechanic?”

And she isn’t the only one, Steff Boulton (‏@mamasteffy): “Why is ben foster trending on twitter? This cannot be the Ben Foster I know!”
