Queens Park Rangers have signed Blackburn Rovers forward Junior Hoilett on a four-year contract.

The 22-year-old scored seven goals in 34 appearances for Steve Kean’s side last season, and Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur supporters expressed their dismay at missing out on the Canadian striker on Twitter.

Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye after confirmation of the deal.

Jack Mclaughlin ‏(@JackoMcglocks) is impressed: “Junior Hoilett joined #QPR! Great signing for them! QPR going to be decent this year :-) #loveit!

QPR supporter Owen Kenny ‏(@okennyqpr) says it has been a great day for the Hoops: “Two massive new signs of intent from QPR board stating Armand Traore won’t be leaving and Junior Hoilett signing – perfect day!”

While Connor ‏(@ConnorHamand) reckons QPR have been shrewd movers in the transfer market: “QPR have probably done the best business so far this summer. Junior Hoilett on a free is a steal. Predict a top half finish for them. #QPR”

Casper ‏(@Tha_OneNine) considers Hoilett to be a top player: “QPR signed Junior Hoilett? Was wondering when a club would. He’s an awesome player. #goodsigning #transfers #epl #qpr”

John Pritchard ‏(@Jonaldo14) makes a valid point: “Junior Hoilett you silly boy! QPR – make their first signing under the age of 32!”

Jordan Blackwell ‏(@JBlackwell92) is surprised Hoilett opted against Borussia Monchengladbach and Champions League football: “Junior Hoilett is a brilliant signing for QPR, but I’m surprised (and disappointed) he didn’t choose CL football with Borussia Mönchengladbach!”

Alex Richards ‏(@AA_Richards) is in agreement: “I appreciate Junior Hoilett has joined #QPR to link up with Mark Hughes but to turn down Champions League football at Gladbach – Staggering.”

Jordan Downie (‏@JDownie93) wanted Liverpool to make a bid: “Why on earth has Junior Hoilett signed for QPR? Waste of his talents. Surely Liverpool were interested and I know Borussia Mönchengladbach were.”

Stewie Thornber ‏(@Stewbacaa) is sceptical about Hoilett’s motives: “Junior Hoilett finally makes up his mind and joins QPR? Obviously for the money.”

Spurs fan Nick Harden ‏(@NickHarden92) wishes Tottenham had signed Hoilett: “Junior Hoilett has gone to QPR, this upsets me – I think he’s a great little player.”

Arsenal supporter Farooq Ahmed ‏(@Farooq09) had hoped his club would sign the forward: “I was hoping Junior Hoilett would be a target of #Arsenal’s but he goes to QPR where he’ll likely start and get a big pay day.”

Gunners fan James Dickenson (‏@jdickenson1990) is also gutted: “Gutted Junior Hoilett has signed for QPR, really feel he could have added something to Arsenal’s squad. And he was on a free!”
