Craig Bellamy is wary of the threat posed by Liverpool striker Luis Suárez ahead of Team GB’s final Group A clash against Uruguay on Wednesday.

Great Britain can book their place in the quarter-finals of the Olympic men’s football tournament with a draw against the South Americans.

The 33-year-old is Suarez’s team-mate at Liverpool, and the Welshman was quick to earmark the former Ajax forward as Uruguay’s danger-man.

“Luis is such a good player,” said Bellamy. “The one thing about him is he can create something out of nothing.

“You may think he is going down a dead end and there is no way he can come out of it but he will chop it past someone or put it through someone’s legs and that makes him so dangerous.

“He is a wholehearted player, he will chase balls down and run and I have been fortunate to train with him day in, day out, but also even more fortunate to play with the boy as well. He is a special talent.”

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley also warned his Team GB team-mates not to underestimate Napoli’s Edinson Cavani or reported Liverpool target Gaston Ramirez.

“Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani, Gaston Ramirez – they are all good players who can hurt us so we have got to stop them,” said Cleverley.

“They have got quality but they also have weaknesses which we can exploit.

“It is a tight group. We must be positive and go for the win. We’ve got to try to top the group. We have got to stamp our mark on the game.”
