Brendan Rodgers insists Luis Suárez will be at Liverpool next season, with the Reds keen to offer the Uruguayan a new contract

Brendan Rodgers has moved to end speculation linking Luis Suárez with a move away from Liverpool this summer, revealing the Reds are keen to offer the Uruguay international a new contract.
The 39-year-old replaced Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool in May after a disappointing end to the season which saw the Reds slump to an eighth-place finish in the league.
Suárez scored 11 goals in 31 Premier League appearances last term and Rodgers is keen to ensure the forward’s long-term future is at Liverpool, with Juventus reportedly interested in bringing the former Ajax star to Serie A.
“I’ve had a brilliant chat with Luis,” Rodgers told TalkSPORT. “He’s really looking forward to being here and we are obviously hoping that we can get him on to another new contract. He’s really looking forward to the new season.”
Rodgers joined Liverpool from Swansea City after guiding the Swans to a respectable 11th-place finish in their first season in the Premier League.
And the Northern Irish manager is already eyeing a number of signings to strengthen his squad for next season.
“I’m looking forward to bringing in three or four players that can really affect the group,” he added. “I’ve got a wonderful group of players here at the moment.
“I read every day players that are linked with here and unfortunately, especially for the supporters, it’s a difficult time because you’ve got agents linking players with Liverpool just purely because it’s great for them to be linked with such an institution of a club.
“But the reality is there are very few players who can come and make a difference to Liverpool.” ![]()
