Paris Saint-Germain head coach Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed speculation linking Robin van Persie with a move to the French side.

The cash-rich Ligue 1 outfit were thought to be one of the clubs potentially interested in the Dutchman’s signature after he revealed he does not want to extend his current Gunners contract, which expires next summer.

But Ancelotti insists the Arsenal captain is not a target, while also playing down reports linking PSG with a swoop for Italy playmaker Andrea Pirlo.

“Van Persie is not a target of ours, but I think he is for other clubs,” said Ancelotti. “Pirlo is an interesting player for any club, but I have had the chance to coach him for eight years and that is enough.”
