Steven Naismith admits leaving Rangers to join Everton was "one of the hardest" decisions of his career
Steven Naismith admits leaving Rangers to join Everton was “one of the hardest” decisions of his career after he sealed a free transfer to Goodison Park.
The 25-year-old Scotland international signed a four-year deal with the Toffees on Wednesday after rejecting a contract transfer from the old Rangers to the new company.
“I spent the best years of my career so far at Rangers,” he said. “It was a big decision that had to be made. I’m glad that it’s done with now and I can work on the football side of things.”
“There is going to be disappointment with some fans and others are going to wish me well. I’ve had both,” he added.
“But it’s a relatively short career and you have to maximise your opportunities. I think this is definitely the next step for me and the right one.”
David Moyes says Naismith will be an “excellent” addition to his Goodison Park squad.
“We are delighted that Steven has agreed to join us,” he said. “He will be an excellent addition to the players we already have and we look forward to him being fit and ready to play at the start of the season.” ![]()
