Bring on more success! Twitter reacts to Mancini’s Man City deal
Roberto Mancini pens a five-year contract extension at Manchester City, prompting an inevitable avalanche of Tweets

Roberto Mancini has signed a new five-year contract extension to keep him at Manchester City until 2017.
The Italian, who replaced Mark Hughes at Eastlands in 2009, led the Citizens to their first Premier League title in 44 years last season after guiding them to the FA Cup in 2011.
“Manchester City is a fantastic football club,” Mancini told the club’s website. “I am very much looking forward to the challenges and excitement ahead.”
The news inevitably prompted a huge response on Twitter, with ‘Roberto Mancini’ trending worldwide minutes after the announcement.
And here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye.

Andrew Hunt (@Andy_Hunt357) believes Mancini has given himself a safety net should it all go wrong: “Roberto Mancini signs a new contract at #MCFC? Bad news for City, great news for Mancini. Massive payoff if he doesn’t have a good season!”
Jake Johnson (@jakepjohnson) questions the timing of the announcement following reports linking Mancini with the Russia job: “How strange that after reports of a megabucks job offer for the Russia coach role, Roberto Mancini gets a new 5 year deal at #MCFC #suckers”
Graeme Waggott (@GrayWag) is not surprised by the news: “So nothing in Roberto Mancini rumours, agrees new five year deal with #MCFC didnt think he was the type to leave for the money.”
City fan Nana Yaw Mcfc (@nanayaw369) believes the announcement is not good news for Sir Alex Ferguson: “I bet Ferguson is shaking after hearing the legend Roberto Mancini has signed a new deal.”
Kevin O Hara (@KevHump) reckons it will all end in tears for City: “Manchester City have given Roberto Mancini a 5 year deal? That’s the craziest deal i’ve ever seen. He will never last. Only cost them money!”
Matthew Flanagan (@MattFlanagan_1) is surprised by the length of the deal: “Five years is an awfully long time for a manager, could all go wrong so easily. But…Roberto Mancini; Football genius. #mcfc”
And finally, Madhavi Ravi (@missmaddenstein) remains unconvinced by Mancini’s touchline attire: “Great, so we are now going to have to see Roberto Mancini wearing that ridiculous scarf for five more years. #MCFC” ![]()
