The British No1 booked his place in the last eight with a convincing straight-sets win over Croatia’s Marin Cilic in a rain-affected match on Tuesday. Ferrer, meanwhile, was equally impressive as he dismissed Juan Martin del Potro in straight sets.
Murray is expecting a tough clash against the man who beat him at the same stage of the French Open in May.
“It would mean a lot [to win Wimbledon]. I can’t put into words or describe how it would feel because I haven’t felt it before,” said Murray.
“But I’m not feeling that right now because I’m playing against the world No5 [Ferrer] in my next match, and I lost against him a few weeks ago at the French Open.”
Murray’s match follows six-time champion Roger Federer’s meeting with Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny on the main show court at SW19.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic opens play on No1 Court with his quarter-final against Germany’s Florian Mayer, before Jo-Wilfried Tsonga’s clash with Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Wednesday’s weather forecast looks somewhat more promising than the last two days, with light drizzle early on expected to ease by the end of the day. ![]()
