Radwanksa is competing in her first Grand Slam final, and if that was not daunting enough, the world No3 faces the four-time champion Williams for a place in Wimbledon history. The pair have met at SW19 before – the American eased to a 6-4 6-0 victory in the quarter-finals back in 2008. The only other meeting between the finalists was in Berlin four years ago, with Williams winning in straight sets again. The 30-year-old was in ruthless form to beat defending champion Petra Kvitova in the last eight in under 90 minutes, while Williams was similarly emphatic in serving 24 aces and hitting 45 winners in a victory over world No1 Victoria Azarenka in the semi-final on Thursday. The Tipster reckons Williams to win in straight sets against Radwanksa is a solid bet at 1/2.

Williams has timed her run to perfection and saved her best form for the climax of tournament as the four-time Wimbledon champion overpowered Kvitova and Azarenka on Centre Court in the last two rounds. After overcoming the opening two rounds with ease, the sixth seed survived three-set battles against Jie Zheng and Yaroslava Shvedova to reach the quarter-finals. There has been an average of 27 games in Williams’ last four matches – even in relatively straightforward victories over the world No4 and world No1, the American played 21 games against Kvitova and 22 games against Azarenka. Furthermore, of the four finals that Williams has won at SW19, she faced her sister Venus three times, with those meetings averaging 25 games. So the Tipster is predicting over 21 games in the final at 6/5.

Radwanska, seeded third at SW19, has enjoyed a relatively straightforward run to the Wimbledon final. The 23-year-old secured straight-sets wins in the first four rounds and also against the much-fancied Angelique Kerber in the semi-final – the Poland No1 was taken to three sets against Maria Kirilenko in the last eight. Her draw has been fairly kind so far, with victories over Elena Vesnina, Heather Watson and Camila Giorgi. Key to Radwanska winning her first Grand Slam will be making a strong start against Williams and taking the first set. The Tipster is confident Williams will win her fifth Wimbledon title, but for the more adventurous, our resident betting expert’s final tip is Radwanska to win the first set but lose the match at 6/1.
