Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta: New signing Santi Cazorla can have a big impact
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta believes his compatriot Santi Cazorla will be an important player for the Gunners this season

Mikel Arteta is convinced Arsenal new-boy Santi Cazorla will have a big impact at The Emirates this season.
The 27-year-old Spanish midfielder signed a long-term contract with the Gunners after agreeing to move from Malaga on Wednesday.
Cazorla, who helped Malaga to a fourth-place finish in La Liga last season, is Arsène Wenger’s third summer signing, and Arteta is excited by his compatriot’s arrival at the north London club.
“Technically he is very gifted, he can play wide in both positions and through the middle as well,” Arteta told Arsenal’s website.
“He is tricky and has two good feet – in fact I could not say whether he is right or left-footed. He will bring us good experience and something different. He will be a good addition to the team.
“I am convinced he will [make a big impact]. The way that we play at Arsenal really suits his qualities and hopefully he will be very successful.”
Arteta has also been impressed by Wenger’s other two signings, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, and the former Everton midfielder revealed the pair have already settled in at the club.
“They are looking good in training and getting on really well with the other players. They’re confident and making jokes,” he added.
“The [training camp] is good because we all spend time together and you get a relationship with your team-mates, which is very important when you go on to the field.
“They are very comfortable, this is an easy group. They are nice lads and we are all trying to help them.” ![]()
