Chelsea start their Premier League campaign with a trip to the DW Stadium on Sunday – and the Tipster is backing Fernando Torres to score for the Blues against Wigan Athletic.

Our resident betting expert is also tipping Carlos Tévez to help Manchester City to a comfortable victory over Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.

Torres to score at any time against Wigan – 11/10

Despite their heavy spending this summer, Chelsea still look very reliant on Torres for goals. The Spanish striker looked sharp in the Community Shield, and he finally appears to have turned around his Stamford Bridge career. The Tipster’s opening bet for this edition is Torres to score at any time against Wigan at solid odds of 11/10.
Bet365 odds

City to win by three goals or more v Southampton – 8/5

Southampton face the unenviable task of making the trip to champions Manchester City in their first game back in the Premier League. The Tipster remembers last season’s opening fixture for City – Roberto Mancini’s side gave Swansea City a tough induction to the top flight with a 4-0 win. So the Eastlands outfit to win by at least two goals looks like an excellent bet at 8/5.
Bet365 odds

Tévez to score two or more against Southampton – 7/2

Tévez has been in ominous form ahead of the new season. The Argentina international looks fit, sharp and focused again. He scored a great goal against Chelsea in the Community Shield, and has netted four times in his last five Premier League games. The Tipster is backing Tévez to score two goals or more against Southampton at tempting odds of 7/2.
Bet365 odds

Over 2.5 goals in Man City v Southampton – 1/2

There have been over 2.5 goals on Southampton’s last three visits to City’s home ground. In addition, Mancini’s side have scored at least two goals in 10 of their last 11 home league games. Therefore, it goes without say that the Tipster is backing over 2.5 goals between City and the Saints at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday at 1/2.
Bet365 odds

The long shot: Chelsea to score over 3.5 goals against Wigan – 6/1

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last two trips to Wigan, including a stunning 6-0 victory over the Latics in 2010. The Blues will be eager to make an early statement in the title race, and have plenty of fire power in the likes of Torres, Eden Hazard and Oscar. So The Tipster’s audacious long-range effort for this edition is for Chelsea to score over 3.5 goals against Wigan at 6/1.
