Chelsea and Manchester City target Gonzalo Higuaín admits he wants more playing time at Real Madrid next season

Gonzalo Higuaín admits he wants more playing time at Real Madrid, with Chelsea and Manchester City both reportedly interested in signing the Argentina striker.
The 24-year-old scored 22 goals in 35 La Liga appearances last season but only started 18 games as Real Madrid won the Spanish title.
Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with a move for the former River Plate youth graduate in recent weeks, but the striker insists he is looking forward to another campaign at the Bernabéu.
“On a personal level I’d like to play more,” the Argentine told Major League Soccer‘s website. “I want to score more goals than I did last season, but that is in my hands and nobody else’s.
“We had a great league last season, setting new records along the way, but the main thing is to keep it up or even go one better.”
Meanwhile, Higuaín also spoke of his delight to see his brother Federico complete a move to MLS side Columbus Crew.
“I’m very happy because it is a change for the better and I hope it all turns out well for him,” he added.
“Federico is really looking forward to it, especially moving to such a great city.”
The striker has scored 103 goals in 220 appearances for Madrid after completing a €13 (£10.2m) deal from River Plate to the La Liga holders in 2006. ![]()
