Manchester City’s Kolo Touré: I want to stay at Eastlands

Kolo Touré insists he is staying at Manchester City despite the centre-half admitting to holding talks with Bursaspor over a possible move to Turkey.

The 31-year-old was a fringe player for the Eastlands side during their title-winning season, with the Ivory Coast international making just 14 league appearances, largely from the bench.

The former Arsenal defender, who has one year left on his contract at City, held discussions with Bursaspor earlier this summer but wants to remain with the Premier League champions.

“I did speak to the people there, but I’m just focusing on City,” he said. “I’m a City player, I still enjoy it here – you can see that.

“I love playing at the same club as my brother. But we will see what will happen. I’ve got one year left on my contract and that’s it.

“I am still at City but you never know the future. For me the most important thing is every day I’m at City I’ll give 100 per cent.”

Touré has won the FA Cup and Premier League title since joining City in a £16m deal from Arsenal in July 2009.

And the defender says confidence is high at the Eastlands outfit and there is a strong belief that they can retain their league crown.

“We know how to win and now we have to work hard and give 100 per cent every game,” added Touré.

“The Premier League is the hardest in the world and five or six clubs could be champion and for us we will just focus on us and do our best.”
